ASSISTED IMMIGRATION
SUSPENSION WILL CONTINUE. WITH SOME EXCEPTIONS. Wellington Feb. 1. When the Government last considered the question of assisted immigration, it was anticipated that further discussion of the matter would take place in the New Year, but inquiries show that it will not be brought before Cabinet again until the ,end of the financial year March, 31, when the Government will review its programme in general for the following year. This means a continuation of the policy of suspension excepting in cases where prior to its adoption intending emigrants -from Britain bad sold up their homes. Domestics a'so continue to receive assisted passages, and where a breadwinner has settled in New Zealand and wishes to bring his family there is usually a concession in those cases.
