THE IRISH TURMOIL
FIGHT IN CORK ROADS MINED London, June 19. Two hundred rebels attacked 25 R.I.C. Auxiliaries travelling in four motor lorries near Newmarket, Cork, Three road mines exploded, disabling three lorries. Two cadets were killed and four wounded during the fight. Reinforcements found the dead body of one attacker, and it is believed that others were killed. Armed rebels attacked and burned three coastguard stations on the Dublin coast.
Another gang held up the Ranelagh branch of the Ulster Bank and stole £2OO.
Two men stole £2OO from the College of Sciences Dublin. Armed men removed the two sons of a widow from their bed at Dundalk and shot them dead outside the house. •.. , . Armed men neld tip a postal paymaster in a riding car in Dublin and stole £IOOO. A report issued by the Scotland Yard authorities states that the outrages on London railway signal boxes were; perpetrated by Sinn Feiners. The men arrested are all Irishmen, their ages ranging from 17 to 24 years. They were armed with revolvers, wirecutters, and paraffin. At Bromley, Kent, the police stopped a taxi-cab containing six armed men. The occupants fired at the police, who returned their fire, wounding a man named Robinson, who was recently ac* quited of a charge of incendiarism. He, with three others has been charged witn firing at the police with intent to commit murder. Further attempts to damage London railways were made last night. Sleeper on the Brighton line at Battersea were set on fire, but the outbreaks were extinguished before serious damage was done.
