At the request of several rate* payers, Mr C. Lally, Chairman of the Te Puke Road Board, has convened a meeting of settlers in the Te Puke and Maketu Ridings, to be held in the Alliance Hall on Tuesday next, for the purpose of considering the proposed County rate. The Councillors . for the Ridings mentioned are invited to be present, Loan and Mercantile Co will hold their usual stock sale in the Te Puke yards on Tuesday next. The Company will hold a special sale of dairy cattle on Tuesday, July sth, when they will offer, in addition to the usual entries, a herd of 70 dairy cows on account of Messrs Montgomery and Co who have dissolved partnership. Separate tenders are invited by the Bay of Plenty Dairy Association for the cartage of cream as follows -: wahe to Matata ; (2) from Manawahe to Awakaponga. Tenders close on the 25th inst., and all particulars can be obtained from Mr Caverhill, Awakaponga, or from the manager, Te Puke. A general invitation is issued to all, association football plavers to attend a practice at 2.30 on Saturday.. The Association game is becoming very popular locally, and Borne good material is to be found amongst the members of the club. A big muster of players, and otherß interested, on the grounds tomorrow, will bs very encouraging to the officials. Neilsen, whose lease has expired, to sell during the third week of July 130 choice dairy cows and heifers.
