RUGBY UNION MEETING The weekly meeting of the Te Puke Rugby Union was held in Messrs Hampson & Hookey’s office on Saturday last. Present: Messrs H. 0. Cooney (in the chair), E. Montgomery, Cuff, Flynn. Wihani, and W. E. Hookey (Hon. Secretary.) In accordance with his notice of motion, Mr Flynn moved that ground fixtures as drawn be cancelled and that .the Committee appoint the grounds, Carried.

Mr Cuff gave notice of motion that the question of grounds be reconsidered at next meeting. Mr Flynn moved that the grounds for next Saturday be allotted Rovers v United on No. 1 ground and Rangiuru v Aturoa No. 2 Carried. On the motion of Mr E. Montgomery, seconded by Mr Cuff, it was resolved that the junior competition commence on Saturday at 1.45 p.m, the draw resulting Rovers v Rangiuru. The affiliation fee for junior clubs was fixed at £1 Is. The referees for Saturday next were appointed as follows : Mr Flvnn for Rovers v United, Mr Alexander for Rangiuru v Aturoa, Mr Wihapi for the junior match.

The secretary of the Tauranga Rugby Union wrote asking for further details of the cause for disqualification of G. Gardiner, and for full evidence of the case. The Secretary was instructed to reply that the matter had been fully considered by the Union before action was taken and that the evidence was quite sufficient to justify the disqualification. It was mentioned that the disqualification, which was for twelve months, was for the offence of playing in Tauranga without a clearance and while under suspension by the Te Puke Union Mr Cooney reported re Rovers v Rangiuru match, that the game lad been interrupted by an altercation between players aggravated by the conduct of a specta-tor.-The Secretary was instructed to write to the spectator in question warning him that a repetition would involve his being de)arred from entering the ground in the future. The Secretary was also instructed to write to the clubs concerned re,the occurrence and also with regard to bad lan guage indulged in by players. The Secretary reported that in addition to the entrance over the stile by the Bowling green, a new entrance had been made by the Kaituna Boarding House, In spite of this spectators continued to climb fences damaging them greatly. It was resolved that gatekeepers be instructed to endeavour.’ to prevent spectators entering the ground in this manner.

The following senior and junior teams will represent the Rovers on Saturday, the former against Uci ed and the latter in the first match of the junior competititioh against Rangiuru: Senior. —L, Riddell, Robinson, Kouma, Sergeant, P. Tapsell, Ronald, Nua, Bishoprick, Montgomery, W. Rogers, R Rogers, Wini, Snodgrass, Pinker, Hira, Jamieson.

Junior.—Dunlop, Bird, Birt, A. and H. Watkins, White, Stewart, Burton, Jamieson, Gresham, Kerr, Av Riddell, Bengett, Witcliffe, Donovan.

Juniors must be at the club’s room at 1 30. The United Football Club will be represented by the following team in the match against the Rovers to-morrow i-Ralfe, W. BAY OF PLENTY UNIOM ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The annual general meeting of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union was held on Monday night. The following delegates were present Messrs W. T. Parata (Rotorua), Tanner and Jordan (Tauranga), Hawking and Martin (Opotiki), Boon and Price (Whakatane), Rev. Kanapu (Taupo), and Montgomery and Cuff (Te Puke). Mr W. T. Parata, president, occupied the chair. The annual report and balance sheet was read and adopted, the latter showing a debit balance of £lO. The election of officers resulted as follows Patron : Mr F. F. Hockly, M.P. ; president: Mr W. T. Parata j vice-presidents Messrs Tapper (Rotorua), Jordan (Tauranga), Harron (Whakatane), Montgomery (Te Puke), Hawkins (Opotiki), and Everitt (Taupo). It was resolved that the Management Committee consist of the president and vicepresidents, with the substitution of Mr Boon (Whakatane) for Mr Harron : secretary and treasurer i Mr J, A. tane) ; auditor :Mr F. Prideaux (Whakatane). It was decided the headquarters of the Union for 1921 be at Whakatane. The drawing for the matches in the Kusabs Cup competition resulted as follows-—Tauranga v. Te Puke, at Tauranga, 4-6-21; Whakatane v. Opotiki, at Whakatane, 11-6-21*; Taupo v. Rotorua, at Rotorua, 18 6 21. The second round, it was decided, 3hould be played on 2-7-21; the place to be fixed by the Union, and the final on 16 7-21, the Union fixing the place. Mr W. T. Partita was elected the Union’s delegate to the New Zealand conference. After prolonged discussion, the disqualification of G. Gardiner, of Te Puke, for the ensuing season was agreed to, on two charges, namely “playing dead” and “playing for another club while under suspension.” A letter was read from the New Zealand Rugby Union re the amended rules. —lt was resolved that the Union’s delegate be instructed to vote for the playing of the amended rules as submitted by the Auckland Union. It was stated that Referees’ Associations were being formed in Tauranga, Te Puke, Whakatane and Opotiki, and it was decided referees from these associations should be selected for the Kusabs Cup matches.
