ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Te Puke|Road Board was hel J on Saturday last, there being Messrs C. Lally (Chairman), S. Douglas, A. J. Molony, and J. Witherow.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Prior to proceeding with the business the Chairman moved that the Board tender to the family of the late Mr o'Shaughne3sy its sincere sympathy in the great loss _ they had sustained,-The motion was carried in silence, v The Clerk wss authorised to take the necessary steps to fill the vacancy on the Board caused by the death of the late Mr Mr O'Shaughnessy, A letter was received from the Clerk to the Te Puke Town Board enclosing copy of resolution passed by the Board re maintenance of portions of Nos. 1 and 2 Roads, and stating that in view of the prospective change of the Town District into a borough, and the consequent readjustment of bouudaries, the Board was not at present prepared to take action in the matter.-The Chairman said the question was (whether they should apply for a commission to adjust the point at issueIt was decided to hold the matter over until the next meeting, • A letter was received from the Department of Lands and Survey re the functions of the Board and County Council conflicting with regard to the expenditure of thirds, and asking for an explanation as to the apparent overlapping of sections-Left in the hands of the Chairman to reply to, • A tender from C. J, Alexander for ploughing and grading 230 chains on No. 3 Road, and 90 chains on the Kirikiri Road at 10s per chain was declined.
Accounts from C. Callery for work on No. 3 Road (£342*), and for £7 4s (thirds) were passed for payment, also an account from W. Tucker for £5. Accounts from H, Kingiand A. J.Andrews were held over,
