BELGIUM RESISTS GERMANY
HEAVY FIGHTING London, sth inst. Although Belgium categorically declined Germany's ultimatum demanding the right to transport her troops across Belgium, it was not anticipated that she would offer a very stout insistence when the invading [army crossed her frontier.
She has mobilised three armies and with this force is opposing the German advance with an unexpected determination. The Germans' are advancing along the Valley of the Meuse, and heavy fighting has occurred between them and the Belgians opposing the advance. - Three German dirigibles hovered over Brussels yesterday. District military authorities announce that an aviator from Leige explored the regions which it is stated -are infested by the Germans, and found no trace of the invaders.
