'COUNTY COUNCIL ASKS FOR £200,000. At the meeting of the County V Council last Tuesday a letter was • read from Mr W. S. The letter i stated: "In reply I have to say ' that the wording of the resolution • -leaves room for some doubt as to ■ whether the Council- considers the prosecution of the railway to be of more immediate importance ihan the erection of the bridge across a portion of the Tauranga Harbor. Cr Stewart moved, "That viewing the construction of the East .' ;Coast Main Trunk line of railway \ from a national point of view, this Council urges on the Govern- ; \ tnent to place on' the Estimates a * .largely increased vote of at least • £200,000 towards , the construction of the line to Gisborne. | Seconded and carried.
