WHEN PACKING FLOWERS.
Gather Early. Flowers that are going to travel long distances should be cut in the early morning before the sun is on them. To Preserve Blooms. Never wet the blossoms, but submerge the stalks right up to the flower in water, and leave them so for above an hour before despatching. Moist or Dry. When wooden or cardboard boxes are used stalks should be moist and separated from each other by layers of'waxed paper, but in tin boxes always pack flowers dry. Separate the Foliage. Never mix blossoms and foliage. They live much longer when kept apart, and reach their destination in far better condition when packed separately. The Massey programme strikes a note of which in the Ward manifesto there was neither sound nor sign— "My country first!"—Wangamu "Chronicle."
