TOWSEY-MITCHELL RECITAL.

Music-lovers who attended the two previous recitals given by these accomplished musicians were prepared for the exceptionally fine entertainment of Tuesday evening in the Towui Hall Concert Chamber. Throughout the recital the large, audienoe listened to the gifted exponents with every evidence of- approval, and especially were they charmed with the playing of the Franck Sonata in A for the piano and violin. The exposition by Mr. Cyril Towsey. and Miss Winifred Mitchell was all that could be desired —remarkable for tone, time, and expression. "The musical message was adequately conveyed by two artists capable of conveying it and loving to do so. It so delighted the audience that Mr. Towsey and Miss Mitchell had to respond to repeated recalls. Mr. Towsey, whose highly expert and sympathetic accompaniments are so greatly enjoyed, played also as a solo a Chopin study, and the intricacies of this study (from Opus. 25, No. 5) was delicately done. Schumann's Novelette in F received tender treatment, and a beautiful little thing from Godard delighted the hearers. Mrs. Cyril Towsey is to be felicitated on her refined and captivating vocalism. In the little pair of songs, the "Elegie" of Massenet and Leroux's "Le Nil," she expressed in flawless form the Deputies of both music and words. Schubert's "To Music," Ireland's "Spring Sorrow," Maughan Barnett's "A Lullaby," and "The Boatie," "Fair Jessie" (Fillitz), and 'Schumann's "Humility." diverse as they are, were given with true feeling! Miss Winifred Mitchell gave as violin solos, "Moments Musicale" (Smonette) and " Meditation" (Massenet), displaying true appreciation of their beauties and excelling in technique. The audience, consisting as it did of notably musical people and true music lovers, left the recital with many expressions of pleasure at having spent so charming an evening.
