FIXTURES. October 11, 12—Masterton R.C. October 12,13—Dunedin J.C. October 20, 22—Wellington R.O. Spring October 22—Waverley-Waitotara R.C. October 25, 26—Poverty Bay Turf Club •November 3, 5, 7, 10—Canterbury J.C. Spring November 3, 7—Avondale J.C. Spring.

With the Auckland Trotting Club fixture only a week off, the Alexandra Park mentors are sending their charges along now in real earnest. In the early part of last week, when the track was good, a lot of work was done. The Auckland Trotting Club have received capital nomination for the eight races listed, having an average of fifteen per race. Mr Gee's Gallipoli and Amberite were both present in the early part of the week and put in some useful trotting and pacing at Alexandra Park. Another suburban owner and lover of the' game, Mr Wyatt, had the two straight-out .trotters, Blackthorn and Mstlthorn. Both are fairly forward in copdition. Most of the Point Chevalier horses were present on Tuesday and Wednesday. Nellie Clive, in the care of Turner, is coming on nicely. ' Derby Dillon, handled by G. Robertson, is well forward. After being well wintered he put in sound tasks. Mr Warnock's pair of home-bred maiden candidates are very backward and vrill require time. With the few times that Wildfire has been stretched out she has made rapid improvement, but is hardly yet at her very best. The Dan Patch-Dolly Grey gelding, Ingarina, has yet to claim the judge's attention. He was at the Park working with the straps on. He should be useful. Mr Jas. Pettie's trie, Sweet Memory, Sweet Lillian and Auckland Girl, have probably done as much work as anything on the tracks. They are all w,ell. W- A, Scott has taken a lot of trouble with Comedy Chief and the gelding is showing the benefit of his care. The same trainer has Manuka Park in splendid condition that should materially Assist the son of Roto Manuka to capture stake money. Bushchild and a maiden straight-out-trotter have both gone on the right way. The former is a solid little gentleman when keyed to concert pitch. Dignity, who was recently sold for 35 guineas, is nominated in the Maiden Trotting Handicap, but so far has done nothing to write home about, Dorothy Dimple and Asturia are very well at the present time, and should be hard to beat on a fair mark. A. Brown's handsome brothers by Rothschild-Octoroon (Harold Junior and Quadroon) ran along brilliantly on Tuesday witrT the straps on. Harold Junior failed to catch a race in the South. Miss itolfe, the handsome-looking Australian-bred filly, has been moving along like well oiled machinery and should keep most of the opposition pretty busy. A. Julian has Sandy Patch, by Dan Patch, who ran second to Miss George at the A.T.O, autumn fixture. Tanui, in the same stable, by Papanui, is in full training. The colt by Papanui-Irvington mare has been named " The Native "and is doing well.

G. Malcolm has almost recovered from his recent bad illness and is training Charming Rod, Wereoa,, Tiki, Lady Grattan and another. , All are in fair fettle. '

Dabster, handled by D. Price, has been putting in good work in harness. Sirene was ridden by H, Price on Tuesday with the straps on, ehowing good bursts of speed. . • ■

The veteran, T. Price, sent the big, straight-out trotter,, Waikaukau, along at top speed. He also handled the maiden candidate, Hint (NormintsonLucy Hintoh).

W. Orange rode the trotter, White Wings, who moved along in good style, suggestive of a win in the near future.

Jas. Lynch, the trainer, has Roto Manuka in rare buckle. On Tuesday the imported American horse moved along attractively with the straps on.

Macmasters has Lucille, Huon Grattan and Grattan Abbey. The owner, Mr C. R. Bailey, was present on Thursday to seethe latter work. The team are all fairly well.

The little pacer, Victor G., has gone into J. Lynch's hands. On Tuesday he was moving along at top and is in fair condition.

Mr Giesen had Lord Lonsdale putting in sound work several times during the week. A win would not be out of order for this lover of the game.

Miss Chevalier, one of the finest-looking pacers at Epsom, has done a lot of sprinting driven by the owner, and, if she does not leave her feet, may run well.

Mine Host of the Star, Mr Bert Rae, an ardent follower of the game, has Ivan Huon'and the pacer False Alarm at the top of their best track form. Waverley has had a good sound preparation, and is engaged in the Electric Handicap, one mile. The son of Galindo seems to have thrown off all his former soreness. The useful Pearl dOr is in work and seems pretty forward. The mare put in some sound work during the week but sweated a lot. She paced with the straps on. W. Kelsey has the old trotter, Kiri kiriroa, well. The son of Atlas-Vulcan is in tip-top condition. The pacing mare, Belgium Queen, paced soundly recently. Caretaker Mr Jas. Mitchell has everything in good order for the meetings on the 13th and 20th. The only thing wanted is the clerk of the weather to be in one of his genial " dry " humours. The KUerslie training tracks are kept busy every morning with the near approach of the Auckland Spring Meeting, Besides the education of the juveniles, a fair amount of schooling work takes place over the battens. On Thursday the big bay mare in P. Con way's care, Waihoihoi, after a warm up on the tan, was sent over the pony hurdles. Captajn Lock alone went over four of the big hurdles. The Captain's jumping ability is too well known to need comment. On Saturday Glendalough flew the pony battens with Chaplin in the saddle. Spalpeen's daughter is on the improve. The novice Regio and Dancaster jumped four of the big hurdles, both shaping extremely well. Regio is a nice fencer that should be useful. The last of F. J. Macmanemin's numerous team have been portioned out to different local trainers. The last of the bunch, Lady Delaval (CorinthDemosthenes) has gone into E. Pape's earn. Analogue is one of the fittest horses at Ellerslie, and with fair treatment should not be long off the winning list. Step, the Mystification gelding, has joined the actives again. On Saturday the chestnut ran a sand six furlongs in very fair time.
