LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

The following club notes are from the seventh annual report of the Auckland Rugby League:—

The City Club have sent 90 to the war, of whom 21 have been wounded and five killed. W. Bright, the big forward, has scored the Military Cross. He said he felt prouder than when he won the Roope Rooster. The juniors showed great form, mainly through taking advantage of' the training quarters provided. The seniors lacked in this respect. The club's finances are healthy, £30 17s 8d being in the bank. Sunnyside Club has only nine members left. W. Shaughnessey is still in France, and, like Johnny Walker, is still going strong. He has compiled a record of League players that he has personally piet in the trenches. The list contains 120. names of players from various clubs. The list is a unique one, and is treasured by the League Secretary. The three secretaries from the club have enlisted, and the executive have also gone. The club had no success in the football field, and through defeats have always, lived up to its mojto and played the game. Its credit balance is over £12.

Ponsonbv Club's roll of honour contains 80 odd names. The club's finances- are good,, (having £22 in hand. Allan McClymont, the popular skipper, won the League's cpen •competition for the most popular player in Auckland, securing a handsome gold medal for his popularity.

The Otahuhu Club has been badly hit. So many of the members have gone that )the incoming) executive will have their work cut out to muster a senior team.

Likewise Grafton officials are lookinig for a senior team, and Secretary Lcs. Bull would be pleased to hear of any returned or new players.

Newton, Club reivorts to be stronger than ever, and hope to put a good senior team in the competition. W. Cur-ran, tlwj ex-Auckland repmsentative, who hats been playing in England until recently, will don the red and white jersey.
