BOWLING

Rocky Nook Notes

The final of the Club Fours was the chief item-of interest at Rocky Nook on Saturday, 14th inst. The teams to contest it were Barton "(sub. for R. P. Smith), Harrison, Buckle, Wakerley and Daisley, Rendall, Fenton, Martin. After the recent rains the green was rather heavy and thus not conducive to the fine play for which both the contesting skips are noted. However, a good game resulted and the play at times' was of a high order, Wakerley especially drawing some lovely scoring shots. The first three heads saw Wakerley pile on eleven points to his opponent's nil, but Martin kept pegging away and he was only a point behind on. the eleventh" head. Wakerley then made another break and on the •eighteenth head the score read 25----13 in his favour, the next two heads went to Martin for four, leaving him to get eight on the last head for a- tie, he made a bold bid for it but could only manage to notch a brace, Wakerley thus being acclaimed the winner of the Club Fours for another season. Hodgson skipped a team against one with Taylor on the end and had a comfortable win. He leel right from the jump and finished up with nine to 'the good. Scores 21-12. The game between teams skipped by Bouskill and Gladding was a good one the scores being even no less than five, times throughout the game, Gladding lasting long enough to register a two point win. Scores 23-21. Dolf Eagleton was in a scoringmood in his game, against Bill Jenkin and as a consequence Bill hadn't much of a look in. The former made the pace, from the word go and ran out an easy winner. Scores 25-14. ■ « • Mount Eden Notes. On Saturday the 14th inst. the Percentage Fours advanced another stage, the ninth round being played and expected and unexpecteel results occurred. Walter Reid, supported by JackStevens, Sherriff, and our G.O.M. and H. N. Garland hung up our respected President to dry with the starch out. Accompanying him were A. G. Mackenzie, Ormiston and dear little Alf. Dickenson. It looks like good business to get in on Walter, for he appears to have a chance in the finals. Dixon, Wagstaff, Fawcett and Vuglar (skip) emerged victorious in their contest with Jos. Smith, McNab, Robertson and Bob Young (skip) by four points after a good game. Willie Gatenhy seconded by those capable gentlemen, Messrs. Short, Willie Woollev and our own W. P. Baker, dealt firmly and effectively yet in a kindly spirit with Jim Smith, who was supported by our only Teddy Lewis, Herb. Tattersall and the wee McPherson, the game ending Gatenby 30, Smith 14. Harry Rankin, who had as assistants : D. McKenzie, Fraser, and J. Coe, added yet another to his formidable list of fours' wins by defeating C. Hudson, who had aa associates in defeat, Walker, Yates and H. AValton. Harry is training on well and may yet qualify for the semi-finals in this competition. Thompson, Keesing, Moston, and Findlay, after a fairly good contest secured the honours in their match against that doughty quartette, Nairn, Monk, Henderson and J. Trayes.

On the last rink to come under notice, Gray, Swales and Colonel Fergusson with C. C. Baker (skip) advanced most potent argument which carried firm conviction, to. the hearts of Hutchison, Postles, G. White and R. G. Dacre (skip) ar.d finished up good winners. 0. C. is in great nick just now and ie an almost certain iftcceptor for til? semi-finals.
