BOWLING

Rocky Nook Notes. There was. a good muster at Rocky Nook on Saturday week, all rinks being fully occupied. Mount Eden sent along two teams in charge of J. Smith and R. Burns, who were opposed to teams skipped by Wakerley and Eagletori respectively. In his game. Smith started off with a lead of a few points, but Wakerley gradually wore him down, and had several points to spare when the cards were handed in. Scores: 27-14. The game between Eagleton and Burns was of the close order, and there was very little difference in the scores right through the game, the former holding sufficient in hand to run out a winner by four points. Scores: 22-18. In the ordinary draw, Topliss and Pearce had a ding-dong go, there being very little to choose, between them at any stage of the game, Pearce just managing to get first past the post with two to tbe good. Scores: 28-26. Ellisdon was opposed to Gladding, and the latter monopolised the scoring in the early part of the game, but rapidly fell away, so that the former was credited with a twelve-point win. Scores: 32-20.

Mount. Eden Notes. On Saturday week the popular Onehunga green again attracted Secretary Vuglar, President Gill (3), Garland (2), and Braithwaite (1) accompanying him. The Onehunga team, skipped by George, with Macklow (3), Mudie (2) and Schnackenberg (1) proved too good for them, the scores being, Onehunga 18, Mount Eden 14. Two teams tried conclusions against Rocky Nook. "Jim" Smith, with the help of Stemson (3), McPherson (2), and Henderson (1), scored 14 against 27 knocked up by Wakerley (skip), Butler (3), Buscombe (2), Adams (1). Burns (skip), White (3), Fraser (2), and Nairn (1) fared little better against Eagleton (skip), Dransfield (3), Napier (2), Daisley (1), the scores being, Burns 18, Eagleton 22. At Dominion Road, Hudson (skip), Baker (3), Bridges (2), and H. O. Brown (1) met Coupland' (skip), Thorpe (3), A. Smith (2), and Brackenbush (1), defeating them by 25 to 21. Although Mount Eden met. with a decided reverse on the afternoon's play, the excellent afternoon and the" excellent condition of the greens more than made up for the want of excellent results.
