ROWING.

The annual general meeting of the Auckland Rowing Association will be held about the end of this month. A serious loss to the governing body is the absence of Mr H. Blampied, who is at present in training with the Expeditionary Forces. In no small measure, the progress of the Associataion is due to "Harry's" energetic efforts. When the critical position of the local rowing world is considered, great care must be exercised by the delegates in electing the managing executive for the coming season. With the exception of the sec-

retary, all last year's members are available for re-election.

A problem to be faced at the annuail' meeting of the Auckland Rowing Association will be the election of a secretary. Probably one of the old oarsmen unable to enlist will be persuaded l to take up the reins of office.

The thirty-second annual general meeting of the Waitemata Club was held/last Thursday, Mr H. Reston presiding over a good attendance. The report and balance-sheet, as reported last week, was adopted. The following officers were elected! for the coming sieason :—Commodore, Hon. A. M. Myers; M.P.; vice-com-modore, Mr W. G. Smith ; president, Hon. George Fowlds; viee-presi-dentsi, Messrs J. J. Craig, W. E. Bush, T. Read, W. J. Jaggs, W. Bailey, W. Lowe, C. J. Ellerbeck, J. H. Gunson, T. B. O'Connor, Dr. W. J. Moir, S. Kromfeld; hon. secre-tan-y, Mr R. King; hon treasurer, Mr L. Lewis; executive committee, Messrs G. Huddleston, C. Cairns, J. Kelly, G. Taylor, 0. Wolfgramni, W. Madden; boat house committee, Messrs L. Gold worthy, E. White, F. Goodall; auditors, Messrs G. H.

Reston and! L. Bridson; delegates A.R.A., Messrs G. Taylor, T. Marshall, W. Madden.

The members were busy on Saturday putting the boats back into the boathouse, the re-erection, of which is now almost completed. Unfortunately the new sea wall is not finished. The boathouse is therefore at present not connected' with the road, but this, we hope, will soon be past history.

Like all other sportsmen, oarsmen have played am important part in the call of the Empire. Rolls of honour are being compiled by the various clubs. West End, with over fifty members in the Expeditionary Forces, are well to the fore with their roll. A subscription was started 1 a few days ago for the purpose, and a most gratifying response has been met with. The unveiling ceremony has been fixed! for November 6th.

AU oarsmen of Auckland should endeavour to keep that day clear,

and roll up to the western suburb's club house in strong force for the worthy function.
