BOWLING.

The mi nth annual meeting of the Epsom Bowling Club was hekli in the club pavilion on Wednesday, July 14th. There was a good attendance of members. The president, Mr Jas. Buttle, in his annual report congratulated the club on the successful year just endlsd. Though the club diid not win as many inter-club matches as it would have liked, they nevertheless provided excellent arid many enjoyable games, the actual score in regaird to inter-club matches being:—Played 9, won 3, points gained 1440, points lost 1569.

The club's first year's team won the Auck.la.nd Centre's First Year's Shield, coming through the competition without ksing a single game, a very creditable performance.

The champion of the club proved to be Mr D. Crabtree, who also gained the honour last season.

The Champion, Pairs was won by Messrs Duffin (skip) and 1 H. Wells (lead). The Handicap Singles Avas captured by one of the youngest members, Mr J. T. Wallett, the Handicap Pairs going, to G. Watkins (skip) and J. Gough (lead).

Fifty pounds was paid off debentures owing by the club out of funds in hand. To meet extra expenditure that the club would have to face in the near future the subscription was raisedl to £3 per amnum.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr S. H. Harrisoni; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Tanoier and A. Jones; secretary, Mr \V. B. Williams; treasurer, Mr A. J. McGowan; general committee, Messrs J. Buttle, R. Clark, W. Smith; green superintendent Mr G. Watkins; auditor, Mr H. Welfe; delegates, Messrs E. A. Craig and R. Clark; match committee, Messrs E. Walton, W. B. Williams, H. Tanner.

During the week the final of a series of three games was played between Grey Lynn and Rooky Nook on the former's green. Each club hadl had) a win to its credit, and the

final produced a very interesting game. Groy Lynn set the pace, and had scored 11 before their opponents got going, and on the tenth head tho score read 13-5. On the eleventh head Reeky Nook caino with a. rush and lay the possible eight, thus equalising the scores. From this on the igarae was full of interest, very little separating the teams, andi Rocky Nook eventually wound up winners by 5 points.

Rocky Nook was represented by G. Gladdinig, J. Jenkini J. Butler and Sfaim Jenkin, and Grey Lynn by F. Pairsons, W. Dimery, A. Gray and G. Clark.

On Saturday the fine weather brought quite a number of bowlers on to the field at Rocky Nook.

A Ponsonby team, cor.s'isting of Bourne, Comics, Pelham and Fcokes pa:di a visit, and were pittedl against W. Jenldn, W. Gladding, G. Gladding and Sam. Jen.kin.

On the clay Rocky Nook proved islighitly the 'better team, winning a o'jcsely contested game by s—scores, 25-20."

Bouskill proved too goodl for "Waked ey, win.minig his game by 10 points. For'Bausikill, Pen.ree, as third, played; a game out of the box.

Fraser got all over Irvine to tho tu.iK* of 15, Daisley, as lead for Irvine, playiivg a tip-top same.

Dnansfield had a good win from Butler, finishing up 8 to the good.

The greens w!ere in splendid condition, playing q's keenly as onukt be desired. :

A most enjoyable smoke concert was held by the'members of the Renmera Bowling Club last Wednesday evening. The cl'vair was occupied by the president, Mr C. Raneon, who

congratulated tho members upon the completion of the furnishings ok the hall, which lnadl all been carried out by voluntary contributions. Mr Ranson announced that, as the result of the sale of tickets for the con*cert the sum of £20 would be handed over to the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Relief Fund. A splendid inraical programme was contributed to by Messrs A. H. Ripley, L. Abraham's, H. M. Harvey, W. Manning, Diwson, Carr, A. Brown and the Rev. AY. Connolly. Mr E. Skaw wae accompanist.
