AUCKLAND CITY ELECTRIC TRAM. WAYS.

QUEEN STREET EXTENSION,

Notice is hereby given that it is the intention of the Auckland City Council (hereinafter called " the Body Corporate "), to apply to His Excellency the' Governor in Council for an Oraer-in-Council under the provisions of " The Tramways Act 1908,"' and its amendments (unless forbidden by the ratepayers in manner prescribed in the said Act), to authorise the extension of the Tramways known as the Auckland City Electric Tramways, by the construction of a tramway along Queen Steeet from its junction with Wellesley Street to its junction with Karanga hape Road. And Further, that in the event of such -authorising Order being granted, it is the intention of the Body Corporate, on the granting of the same (unless forbidden by the ratepayers as aforesaid), to delegate the authority conferred by such Order to construct and use such extension or tramway to the Auckland Electric Tramways Company. Limited, by virtue ot the powers vested in the Local Authorities by Section 9 of the said Act. The particulars of the proposed- undertaking, and of the delegation thereof, are as follows :— (a)-A description of the proposed -works is:—(1) A tramway from the junction of Queen Street with Wellesley Street, along Queen Street to its junction with Karangahape Eoad, the tramway to bewoiked by applied electric power, by means of the overhead trolley system, in the same manner as the present tramways in the City of Auckland (b) Plans, longitudinal sections, ana cross sections, showing the nature of the works, and the line of construction are deposited for public inspection in the offices of the said Body Corporate at the Town Hall, Queen Street, Auckland. (c) It is intended that the authority conferred by the said Authorising Order, when granted, shall be delegated by the Body Corporate to the Auckland Electric Tramways Company, Limited (d) A general description of the terrrs and conditions, subject to whiob. the delegation is to be made, is as follows :— All the powers and auhorities of the Body Corporate under the Order-in-Conneil shall he delegated to the said Company for the period of eighteen years, ending on the First day of June, One thousand nine hundred and thirty-two. The Company shall commence the construction of the tramway within nine months, and complete same within fifteen months of the date of delegation, in manner provided by such Order, and the Company shall thereafter during the said period keep and maintain a line of tramway upon the route mentioned in Clause A hereof, and run cars thereon upon the terms and conditions and under and subject to the powers and remedies of the Body Corporate in case of default mentioned or referred to in the proposed Deed of Delegation, with . liberty to the Local Authorities to purchase the undertaking of the Company at the times and upon the terms set out in such Deed. Copies of the proposed Order-in-Coun-cil, and of the above-mentioned plans and sections, and also of the proposed Deed of Delegation, aro deposited and open for public inspection during office hours, at the offices of the Local Authority. The Common Seal of the Body Corporate, called the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland, was, at a meeting of the Council of the said Body Corporate, held at the Office of such Council, on the First day of October, 1914, duly set, affixed, and impressed hereto and hereon, by the said Mayor, in the presence of— J.
