When the last mail left London " Charley's Aunt" was about to be revived at the Prince of Wales's Theatre, just twenty-one years after the original production. The cast was to ir elude Miss Ada Ferrar, who was leading lady with Mr Julius Knight in the original productions in Australia of " The Prisoner of Zenda " and the "Sign of the Cross." * » « George Willoughby, Ltd., will, within the next few weeks have two companies in New Zealand—the "Aladdin " pantomime, with the complete Sydney company, and a melodrama company. The latter will stage a drama adapted from Ouida's world-famed novel, "Under Two Flags," while the repertory will also include " Tlip Beggar Girl's Wedding" and " No Mother to Guide Her." The dramaticcompany will be headed by Mr George Cross, one of the most popular dramatic artists in Australasia; and Miss Vera Bemee, the French-Aus-tralian artist, whose work has secured the endorsement of Sydney and Melbourne critics In " Under Two Flags" Mr Cross will play the dual character of the dashing young Life Guardsman, and, when he has made* his escape to Algeria, the common soldier. Miss Remee will interpret the fascinating part of "Cigarette," the vivandiere.
