On Saturday week, the Ponsonby Croquet Club opened what promises to be a very successful season. Mrs Dickenson, president, made a- crisp little speech and declared the lawns open for play. The vice-presidents, the Rev. Jolly, Messrs Alf. Coutts, and Geo. Webb, also were present. The ladies 'committee worked very hard to ensure the enjoyment of everyone present, and the delicious afternoon tea provided was much appreciated.
