A VERY pleasant evening was spent by the members of the Ponsonby Croquet Club and their friends at a progressive euchre party and dance on Friday last. The function was held in the Ponsonby Hall, which was filled with players. The winners of the first prizes were Miss Mildred Arey and Mr Booth, who were presented with a handsome back comb, and silver-mounted,walk-ing-stick respectively. The second prizes were won by Mr and Mrs Arthur Goldie. Before the dance started, supper, provided by the ladies' committee, was handed round. Excellent dance music was kindly supplied by several lady and gentleman friends.

On Friday last the North Shore cricketers gave a delightful little dance in the Masohic Hall, Devonport, to the lady patrons of the. cricket club. The hall was prettily decorated with flags and festoons of greenery, while the verandah made a charming sitting-out room, with soft cushion chains, and lit up, with Chinese lanterns. There was a dainty sit-down oyster and champagne, supper,- the , tables being prettily decorated with daffodils ,and greens. The music was supplied by Marriage's band and was all that could be desired. The annual ''At Home" in connection with the Waiuku Lawn Tennis Club took place in the Town Hall, Waiuku, on .Friday, July 26th. There was a large attendance and a most enjoyable evening was spent. The music, which was supplied gratuitously by several of the ladies present, was excellent. The presents were numerous and handsome, and were' an evidence of the high esteem and regard in which the young couple are held both in Auckland and Hamilton.
