PARUA BAY.
Tho O M was at the dance last week, and thinks the hall committee should get a good supply of those useful little books on ' Good Manners,' ' Etiquette ' and ' The Ball-Boom Guide,' and present them to some of our young blue-bloods who could not tell when they were inside and in the presence of ladies...M His home again. No love like the old love, eh, M ?...Who was the young lady who pursed her lips when asked for the next dance? NotE B, surely ?..J R looked very loving and graceful along the Heads road with DS. You've no chance, J.. Who was it who gave the young lady a parcel with the remark, ' Don't lose it for Heaven's sake ? It must have been the lobster, eh, J ?...L H was in Farua, after an absence of a month. He looked quite happy, on his way back to the Heads, singing ' Tell me, Mary, how to woo thee.' Is it not plain sailing, L ? What price the girl near the coast now ?...The O M would like to know wny W W is so quiet now. It was not always thus. What s the matter, W ? ...Who had the crackers at the hall ? Was it the boy who said he didn't care for any woman (n)or man? Now, N, don't blush. . .The wedding bells are starting to ring ; J E B and C L C tied the fatal knot last Monday. The O M's best wishes...They say HFandFH C are going to run in double harness soon. Gather up the cans, boys, as several more are going to take the fatal leap... L W has got the war fever. He says he's not afraid of any fray, sir, and longs to be there where there's ' gore done.'. . JE, of the Valley, had a night out on Wednesday. ' Ob, girls, he's such a dear.'..M S says she does like the Parua 0 M. Thank you, M, my ambition is crowned now. .The social on the 13th was a great success. The singing was tip-top. WHsang 'Lily and I' with great feeling, while L M's rendering of ' Sweet Marie ' fairly brought the house down... J R and D 6 looked very loving in the gallery. Take care, J; JL says be will thump your head.. Too bad of A W to refuse to take the fair C to the dance, on account of the cold. Better look out, A, or the OM will be cutting you...F C says she wouldn't go because H i? would not be there. The Taranui poet was quite disappointed at your non-appearance, F...F M is doing his best to win dear M from the rest..H G and N S must have had a nice time of it at the landing the other evening. How did the boat get adrift '('..That was a lame excuse, J L, to say you were going to Whangarei. Miss B, I think, was the attraction half-way there.
