On a recent Sunday morning a party of gentlemen and ladfes started from here to climb the mountain (thinking, I suppose, it would be a nice place to do a quiet spoon), but to their surprise, the O M wasn't far away. On the homeward journey M E and E J B were noticed to fall back to the rear and have a quiet talk to themselves— but not on politics. M's beautiful hair fell down, and E was continually saying, ' Doesn't the look nice '...A B C is doing the heavy with • the corner ' crowd. You never see him ont, unless he has a regalar ' school ' with him. I wonder if he gets anything for carrying umbrellas and racquets. It puts one in mind of the boy that awaits the arrival of the express train, crying out, ' Carry your portmanteau, sir.'. .."Was it too windy for the tennis clique to have a game on Saturday, as several of them were to be seen standing at one of the corners. The O M thinks the swinging of arms and laughing (which was to be heard for miles around) was the cause of the windows smashing and the verandahs shifting... C S has given Queensland girls the run. Ah, C, you cannot beat the Taranaki girls.. J P looked all right the other night with his best girl as he left the station with a bundle of rhubarb. Look out, J ; whips of pies and plenty of sugar by and bye. .The O M wants to know about the ' Waheo ' C C took a short time back. He looks bad yet. Take another bottle, C..G L must have given MC the go-by, because the O M hasn't seen him with her for a long time. .H C is going to get tied up at last. Get your cans ready boys, he says there will be plenty of beer and cake.
