As we go to press the Trilby Comedy Company are making their debut to an Auckland audience in the popular, comedydrama ' Milky "White,' and a most amusing musical comedietta entitled ' Living Models.' The company is not a large one, but each member of it is a capable artist. Miss Doris Maitland and Miss Blanche Herman have not appeared here before, but Miss Hettie Howarde is a warm favourite. Of the male membera Mr Morton Prior's" ' Daniel White ' is spoken very highly of. And Messrs Sherbonrne and Fort are well-known as having appeared with much success in 'My Sweetheart ' and other comedies in Auckland. A portion of. the proceeds last evening were devoted to the commendable work of the Little Sisters of the Poor, and this (Thursday) evening the Parnell Orphan Home will receive a percentage of the gross receipts. A very successful season is anticipated. The Pollard Opera Company left for the South on Wednesday by tbe s'.s. Tarawera, after a most successful season in Auckland The company drew crowded houses in Abbott's Opera House, and their final pro ductions, 'Uncle Tom's Cabin,' and l l.a Fille dn Tambour Major,' were, most successfully staged. Bessie is the only married artiste at present appearing in the show, and she has just turned is. During his sojourn in Australia, • Bob ' Brough has had over 250 plays sent to him to read. More than 2(K) were no good. The rest were mediocre and only two were actable. Fifty or so were sent in by women, and the worst of the whole lot wan the work of an Australian editor.
