One of your letters, if publsihed, would set the whole town by the ears. Lex (Thames). — Your letter contains splendid materials for a tip-top libel action, damages about a hundred thousand. Better give some other journal a show. M.E. — There is not much merit in your article ; but apart from that, it is not suitable for our columns. V\ c are not running a religious paper, so far as we are aware. Subscbjbeb — Your notes have a veiled sug- ■ gestiveness about them that may possibly give offence to the persons indicates. Also, you have forgotten to send us your name and address. Marmion.— 'How we Beat the Favourite' was written by the late <* dam Lindsay Gordon. All Gordon's poems have been compiled and published in book form, and may be had at any stationer's. Joey. — You tell us your verse is 'poor and ridiculous,' and yet add, ' will you kindly ins rt it.' You seem to have sized it up pretty well. . ■We are not printing any ' poor and ridiculous ' poems, and therefore have to decline it. F. J. B. (Cambridge).— Before you write again about a grievance be sure that jou have fromethiug lo complain. about; Your letter was in type at the time your telegram was received asking thatit bhouid be cancelled. This put us to some inconvenience.
