The Rechabiies celebrated their eighteenth anniversary on j- riday, August 28tb a with a grand concert and ball ; but owing to the very rough weather, the concert was very poorly attended. Dancing commenced at about 10.3 U. About thirty five couples tripped the light fantastic till the sma' hours ot the niorniug, and all seemed to have hud a real jovial lime. The music wa3 supplied by Misa Alaycoclc tviolhi) and Air H tirnith (piano), and was rendered in their usual first class atyle. Mr C Mitchell carried out the duties of M iv a most creditable mauner. Ine caterers tMesdaines Cunningham and Smithj spared no pains to prepare an excellent supper, borne oi the ladies' dresses were very pretty, and were as follows:— Misi Butler, pretiy piuk dress trimmea with while lace ; Miss Fothergill, black dress ; Miss Moran, white dress, pink sleeves ; Miss Bai, black dress, cream lace trimming; MissPiauk, pretty white costume; Miss uribble, blue bodice, navy blue skirt; Miss Abel, blue bodice, grey skirt; Miss Maycock, black dress, pink bows ; Miss Fisher, white dress, pink sash; Miss Pee, black dress trimmed with white lace ; Mias liussell, pale pink bodice, brown skirt; Miss Smith, pmlt bodice, grey skirt; Miss Jackson, white bodice, black skirt; Mrs Siddles, snuff coloured dress trimmed with brown velveo; Mrs Gribble, black dress, cherry red trimmings and gloves; Mrs F Smith, a very neat brown dress ; Mrs H Smith, pale pink dress trimmed with white lace. •Xhe O M will not name the belle, as he wants to live a little longer. .The local instructor of young ideas is a long time rnakiog up his mind to take the final step.
