Maritana Social Club.

FANCY DRESS BALL.

The annual fancy dress ball in connection with the Maritana Social Clnb, took place in the Choral Hall, and passed off with great success and enjoyment About 130 conples were present, the majority of whom appeared in fancy costume. The hall was most beautifully and artistically decorated in Japanese style by Messrs Lester Bros., of the Rainbow Arcade, the whole effect being most charming. One end of the hall was embowered in greenery, and formed a pleasant and cool retreat for tired dancers. Marriage's band supplied perfect music, and Mr W. H. PheeJy provided a splendid supper. Messrs H. Barnes, C. Annett, W. Or. Smith and J. Grover acted most efficiently and courteously eb M.C.'s. It was regretted that the secretary, Mr W. L. Moylan, was unable, through illness, to take an active part in the evening's enjoyment. The ball opened with the Grand March, led by Miss Jonning as Maritana, the beautiful effect of the many coloured costumes being enhanced by the limelight, under tho management of Mr O. E. Mackie.
