MOHAKA,
The dance which was looked forward to for some time with great expectation by the people of Mohaka and Waikari passed off very successfully at the latter place on Jriday evening, the Bth iusc. The supperroom was tastefully decorated wich ferns and flowers of the season, and was also lighted up with Chiuese lanterns. Mr Browne performed his duties as M C in a very satisfactory manner. The music was supplied by a local native band, who also acquitted themselves to the satisfaction of all. During the evening, different members gave songs at intervals, alt- of which were much appreciated.. The 0 M thought a few hearts there needed mending...lt was too bad of D McD to disappoint the fair M so often in such a short time... J S was very quiet. Was it because E M was not there ?..M S says it was too bad not to ask J B to the dance".. .The O M thinks E Mcl ought to study ball-room etiquette more closely. Wasn't he piling o'i the jam with A G ? What about the other sister now, R?...N MeG is still pining away in solitudo. . W T and M S are about to run in double harness.
