The railway employees held a most enjoyable social and dance in the old Masonic Hall, m aid of the railway employees' library It was an unqualified success, about thirty couples being present, The music was capably supplied by Mr J Davidson. Mr T. Wuson officiated as M C, and carried out his duties efficiently. Amongst the ladies most noticeable were : Miss E Whalley, evening dress of black trimmed with black lace ; Miss Manson, evening dress, creme trimmed with creme lace; Miss Dale, pink; Miss Mclntosh, black ; Miss G. Manson looked exceedingly nice in evening dress of creme crepon with green satin sleeves; Miss Newth also looked nice, and many others too numerous to mention I wonder if T B, from Marton, thought he owned the hall at the railway social. The side ' he put on was enough to make one think so. .What will the girls do now that H C has departed for Hawera?..Who was the young lady that B W was so anxious to see home from the railway social, and was then disappointed by another stepping in before him?.. Who was the young lady G B took home from church on Sunday night?.. What was J W hurrying down Church-street on Sunday night after church for ? Was it to try and catch G M ? You should wait at the right corner, old boy, or else go to church... Why does the young saddler grow that beard in such wild array? Is it to please the girl ? Take the O M's advice and get rid of it. . Who is the boy so often seen hanging over a gate at night? Take care, E, or we fear you will be impounded very shortly.. When is J G going to take over the nursery business. .We learn that GH is likely to commence butchering in Feilding shortly. Better stick to the cordials, G. .When is H G going to carry on the business himself?.. The settlers were very disappointed that W G did not turn up to sing as expected. Wasn't he piling on the jam at the dance the other night with Miss W.
