Lecturer Jones has gone South.

John Fuller is having great success at New Plymouth. He returns next week.

The thirteenth annual show in connection with the Auckland Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association takes place tb-day (Thursday), to-morrow and Saturday. - It is expected to be the largest show ever held in Auckland of poultry, pigeons and canaries. Upwards of nine hundred entries have been received, thus assuring a brave display of birds. Every holder of an admission ticket is entitled to a chance in the art union. Mr Hobbs is offering great bargains in dress fabrics, which he has bought in large quantity as a ' job ' lot and which he is offering at bed rock prices to his .customers. These include plain French foule, neat fancy checks, fancy diagonals, and all wool diagonal cheviots. Mr Hobbs makes a point of the fact that he does not sell goods at a certain price one week and then offer the same goods a week later at ' great reductions.' Bain, hail, or blow, it does not appear to make much difference to the attendance of buyers at the great realisation sale of Rushbrook's stock of clothing and drapery now in progress. Ever since the sale commenced, their premises have been crowded. Rushbrook and Co. carry an immense stock, and they annonnce that all departments are still well represented, the clearance of the last few days affording space for the display of reserve stock and many attractive bargains that, for want of room, have had to be kept in the background.
