TUAKAU
The siege on the hill the other night was carried on with great vigour. . . The O.M. led on his contingent in a dashing manner, but not worthy of the Scottish chief. He however beat a retreat on the arrival of reinforcements. . .Bumpas and the M.P. for Gastown seemed quite reconciled the evening of the social, notwithstanding the fifteen thousand business.. .Too bad of that would-be critic to style a respectable, active, family man 'an old fellow.' Be charitable. Your own day will come yet.. . Reading tombstones seems a favourite pastime just now. . . The social in connection with the Dramatic Club was a decided success. The O.M. did not receive an-invi-tation but has managed to hear some of the proceedings. Who were the two young ladies that would not attend because there was a dance. Eather hard on J.McK. and J. 8.. .P. should learn to dance before attending the next social as the ladies shoes are not ' warren 'ted cast steel. Good fun, eh?.. Our own D. looked very uncomfortable. New shoes too tight ?
