ATHLETIC AND CYCLING
Look out for some lightning changes on the A.A.A. and C.C. committee. North Shore Athletic Club's Cinderella dance takes place next Tuesday evening. Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club's Annual general meeting takes place on Thursday evening. Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Clubs' balance-sheet has been issued, and shows that the season's operations resulted in a loss of a few pounds. The first cycle road race that eventuated in France took place as far back as 18(59, when over one hundred riders took part. The course was from Paris to Rouen. A German cycling paper, in speaking of the ' Raleigh,' says the type in question was ridden during, the past season by ' A. A. Zimmerman, A. V. Linton, Harry Wheeler, Chash Prize, Champion von America, E. Scott. No doubt Messrs Chash Prize and Champion von America are very big pots in their own sphere of usefulness, but we have never seen them awheel yet.'
