MAIORO.

The recent ball given in the Maioro hall was an immense success. About twenty couples were present, and it was, without doubt, the most enjoyable ball ever given in the Maioro settlement. The hall was beautifully and tastefully decorated, the company was most select, and the refreshments were tip-top and plentiful. Although the room was very crowded, dancing was kept up till six o'clock. Mr S. Eidgley very kindly performed the duties of M.C., and the music w.as supplied by the Messrs Neil. The dresses of the ladies were unusually pretty, and it would be a difficult matter to choose the belle, opinions being so much divided that I think the O.M. would be far safer to keep his opinion dark. Too bad of S.R. to bring a young lady out to the dance and not to take her home again. How is it S. C. did not dance much ? Was he jealeua of J.K ? Who were the three young men that stole the whisky bottle? What a shame. By jove, those two young men in the corner seemed very loving with M.H. Is it true that W.M. is sticking up to EL.? They look so nice waltzing.... P.D. appeared to be doing' a heavy mash with M.F. Look out, P., for W. Is 8.8. trying his luck with K.McIX? Good on you, B. She was the prettiest girl in the room. D.N. seemed quite forlorn. Was ii because M. H. was not there f C.B. kept his little girl to himself all the time. Was he really jealous of D.? My word, S.N. was piling en the agony with E.D. Don't speak so loud next time, S...\ Where did K.N. find that pretty little girl ?
