WOODSIDE.

Walking so many miles to see one's ladylove is all right, but walking miles to see the smoke issuing from the chimney of the honse of one's late lady-Love is rather dry I should think. The Woodside Jockey Club held their inaugural meeting last Thursday. Everything went off satisfactorily. As treasurer, starter, and judge, Mr B. was an fait at his multifarious duties. The sohool sports came off the same day. After the races, and the prizes were presented to the winners of the same, a very pleasing little ceremony took place. One of the school boys with a neat little address, presented, on behalf of his comrades, a handsome stationery box and inkstand to their school master, Mr Pemadeni. Mr Pemadeni responded in suitable terms. That the recipient of this beautiful gift was worthy of such an honour is beyond question, but passing over that, the O.M. was very pleased to see a step in the right direction of good feeling towards one another. It was a pleasing contrast to the usual state of affairs in Woodside, and long may suoh good feeling continue. The day's fun wound up with a danoe in the schoolroom, which was a merry little affair. The O.M. could not help but notice how happy everybody looked. The air seemed quite yummy-yummy.... A certain new chum was in great demand at the W. picnic Don't all speak at once, girls.... Congratulations, J....Wh0 was it that was kissing girls at the picnic, but who objected to a dance, on the ground that 'it was irreligious?'. ..
