NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP SWIMMING MEETING.
With snch weather as we have had for the last few days the carnival to take place on Saturday will doubtless be a huge success as very great interest is now being shown in the coming struggles between the sister colonies. The Christchurch team arrived at Onehunga yesterday and were met by an enthusiastic welcome from a number of the Auckland swimmers and others who accompanied the visitors in a drag to this city. The Sydney men arrived later and were also given a great reception. They are all in good heart and condition. Mr Thompson, the Gisborne rep, had arrived here previously. A ladies' race for Club members has been arranged to take place at the Friday evening meeting at the Albert-street Baths. Thiß promises to be a very interestiDg event. We refrain from giving any tips for the various contests as under the circumstances they would be little else than flying shots.
