THE A.R.C. SUMMER MEETING.

THE AUCKLAND CUP. The Auckland Cup this week is attracting a considerable amount of attention from all turfites. Although the acceptances last ' week disclosed a field small in number (9), the pretty even quality of the horses left in, as relating to their several imposts, gives the race an aspect as open as- any honest fielder could desire. Kosefeldt, The Workman, Skirmisher, Dilemma, and Brierand are all being supported, whilst Brown Alice is also coming into favour fast on account of good work done. Eosefeldt is nominal favourite at present. I gave my impressions of the handicap when it first appeared, and most all the horses I spoke favourably of are left in. The two pairs are. Workman and Pegasus, and Skirmisher and Dilemma. There is doubt as to which of either pair will start. Brigand has not arrived at the time of writing, but he may be reckoned on as a certain starter. Rosefeldt is already on the ground, and Skirmisher and Dilemma are on the water. If Dilemma be sent in preference to Skirmisher for this event, I think he should win. .Kosefeldt is my next fancy, though I, am chary of trusting a mare for this race ; and I take Workman and Brigand next. So far at present. Next week I shall have seen all the horses and will be au courant as to their condition, etc. THE AUCKLAND STEEPLECHASE. This should be a good race, at anyrate for two or three horses engasred. The three top weights I take to be the best of the crowd, anii I like them in the reverse order : Despised, Waterbory and .vlangare. Long Boper and Union Jack are two likely ones of the outside division.
