New Zealand Tories Rebuked.
Mr Macarthur, Chairman of the Bank of Australasia, is evidently possessed of sense, moderation and faith in his fellows. At the annual meeting of the Bank, in London, the other day, Mr Macarthur deprecated any feeling of alarm at the dominance of Labour members in colonial Parliaments, and expressed his conviction. that the presence of such representatives would not lead to expulsion of capital] or paralysis of trade. I The New Zealand Tory journalists ana public men, who have raised an insane crfl against the tendencies of Labour legislation pay a poor compliment to the Liberal memben and the Liberal majority in the communitM and ' they ought to be ashamed of themselveM for their unjust judgment, and for the needldH injury they have inflicted .upon the colony fl their wild criticisms. The working people BB New Zealand are not such fools as to paraljfl trade and frighten capital — both killing fl| goose and throwing away its golden eggs. hBB goose must be plucked — that's certain ; ?fiß it is the nature of the brute to squeal ; butlHl it squeal with decency and dignity, aIISB . same as Mr Macarthur.
