Medical Malpractice.

Pear Mr Editor,— Knowing you are versed in the current medical topics, may I ask if it is true that a gentleman has lately proceeded to England to have his leg re-broken and re-set, that was attended to by one of the pious surgeons who gave evidence in the prosecution in the late case of Lovett versus Charitable Aid Board ? and is it true that another gentleman in the same case is likely to be prosecuted for malpractice with regard to Borne lady patient ? Perhaps these are favoured members of the Medical Association, so their confreres will unite to protect them. Union is strength. — I am, <Src, One Who Would Like To Know. [Our correspondent over-estimates our etores of information. We are not in a position to say whether or not two of our medicoes are in trouble of the kind indicated, but it would not surprise us in the slightest degree though the truth proved to be even worse than is stated. Most of the mistakes of medicoes are hidden by kindly Mother Earth, and as the Yankee puts it, ' dead men don't sue for damages'; but it would be strange indeed if there were not a few survivors of malpractice to act as beacon lights to warn the unwary against legalised butchers and experimenters in poisoning and vivisection. Time will show whether or not there has been culpable malpractice in these Auckland cases. — Ed. Obs.l
