Bull Versus Volunteers.
Whilst the Sham Fight was in progress at North Shore, a party of red-coated volunteers thinking- to outflank the ' enemy ' entered a paddock in skirmishing order ; but a bull that had until then remained in undisputed possession lowered its head and with full steam came rushing towards the invaders like a small cyclone. Of what use is valour on occasions such as these ? There •was not a man thera but who had left his home that morning prepared to die for his bleeding country ; but wild bulls were hob in the contract. The infuriated animal was no sooner seen than the brave army executed a rapid strategic movement to the rear. Not till they were safely over the fence again did our brave defenders face about, to take a breath, and smoothe their ruffled plumes which had been disturbed in their hurried departure. It is now a payneful subject.
