BACHELORS' BALL AT FLAT BUSH.

The bachelors' ball, held at Flat Bush schoolroom on the 15th inst., was pronounced by universal consent a brilliant success. Although the clerk of the weather, with his usual perversity, sent wind and rain instead of inoonTignt and dry roads, quite a, large number, of visitors pub in. an appearance Dancing commenced tit an early hour ; the music, which was excellent, beingprovided by Mr T. McCarthy (violin) and assistants. At 12 o'clock supper was served, iind the guests sat down to a ' c spread" comprising- all the delicacies of the season, the good things, I need hardly say, meeting with the heartiest appreciation. Supper over, dancing recommenced, and was kept up with unflagging spirit until 5 a.m., a programme of eleven dances being repeated no less than three times. The : dresses were generally admired. Here is a list- of the most attractive ones — and their wearers : — Miss Hunter, muslin skirt, light blue satin body, cream lace and natural flowers ; Miss Turner, dark dress of exquisitely pretty material, captivatiugly trimmed; Miss McCullough, dark green French merino, trimmed with white lace ; Miss E. Hunter, white muslin, prettily trimmed with pink ; Miss Page, black satin, bright cardinal trimmings ; Miss Gillard, pink and blue sateen, cream lace aud flowers ; the Misses Broomfield, dark green merino, red ribbons; .the Misses Morrin, black cashmere, cream lace and crewel work ; Miss "Ward, French merino, dark brown satin trimmings and gold buttons ; Miss Donovan, grey nun's veiling; Miss Durham, black lustre, white lace, red ribbons ; Miss A. Gillard, white lustre, cardinal ribbon, cream lace ; Miss McCarthy, fawn-coloured silk, bugle lace, and cardinal ribbons ; Mrs Freeman, black silk dress, silver ornaments and flowers ; Mrs Hunter, black lustre, lace, and pink trimmings; Mrs J. Gillard, black cashmere, Maltese lace. Miss Turner was generally allowed to be "the belle of the ball"'; Miss Hunter was pronounced the best-dressed lady present ; and Mrs A.
