With regard to the Diseases of the Eye, there may be considered two distinct kinds of treatment, viz., the Medical and the optical ; the Medical to the Physician, the Optical to the Oculist Optician. Entirely two-thirds of the diseases are due to optical defects, Blindness, Squint Eyes, Headaches, Neuralgia of tho face and temples. Deafness, and Inflamalion of the Eyes are frequently caused by optical defects, and are Prevented and Cured, without operations, by properly adapted Spectacles, made to correct the de* fective portion of the eye. There are over 500,000 various combinations of Spectacles required to correct these defects — impossible to be kept in stock by any Optician, even in London, therefore, must be grouud expressly to meet each individual case.
