I hear that Craig has accepted Cutler's challenge to run for £50, and a match between him and Julian is talked of.

D. Craig and W. Carnachan ran a match for £20 a-side last Saturday, the best out of three ; distance, MO, 300, and 150yrd9. The events were taken in the order named, and Crai<r, winning the first two easily, took the spou. Another spin for iSOyrds for a fiver is to come off within a week with the same men.

The licensing committee is causing a flutter among the pubs. The announcement that the Blue iiibbonites intended to close two houses out of the four, caused a scone, and one worthy host immediately brought all his immense chutch influence to bear on the matter, so that whosoever else should be lost, he should be fully saved. He might have saved himself a heap of trouble and have avoided the odium he has deservedly incurred from the other publicans, as the two ' Blue Ribbon memberr nominated, are business men, and not likely to act as fools.
