Examinations are a source of perpetual and deep sorrow to the youth of the nineteenth century ; but neither is the lot of an examiner invariably one of unmitigated joy. A wellknown Auckland parson was the other day induced to leave the congenial realm of Sunday evening concerts and wishy-washy sermons in order to examine some schoolboys in the theological part of their Easter Examinations. One of the parsons questions was this — "Give any text which to your mind distinctly suggests the evidence of what is called a Hell. " The first answer given was this — " /go before to 'prepare a place for you /" The parson brought the viva voee portion of the examination to a speedy close.
