_ Joking apart, it is about time that this ridiculous sensitiveness re perfectly harmless caricatures should be shown up in its true light. What do you suppose Londoners would think of a man who wrote to the papers to complain that he had been caricatured by Pellegrini in Vanity Fair. Why, they would say conceit had driven him mad. And yet there would be infinitely more excuse for such a complaint than there is for Mr. Lennox finding fault with an etching that is to all intents and purposes a portrait. Next week, just to show what English folks consider justifiable caricature, we will get "Quiz" to copy (on a small scale) the caricatures of "Chinese" Gordon and Sir Fredk. Temple, which recently appeared in Vanity Fair. They are a trifle severe.
