Young Lankham is fast developing into a good bowler. He took several wickets in the match against Otahuhu last Saturday very rapidly.

The cricketers of Gisborne are not wanting in pluck. They have written to Melbourne in order to ascertain whether the services of a bowler can be secured.

A sculling match will take place between Laycock, the Australian, and Howden at Newcastle, England, on the 15th instant.

While the yacht Sabrina was being launched last week, it is said that she got a kink in her keel. Sho has therefore been hauled up again at Carr's.

Secretaries of clubs and others are invited to send in particulars of matches played or on the tapis, or information regarding events of interest, addressed " Actaaon," Observer Office.

The Ponsonby Bowing Clnb have declined to take over the gig built for them by Carr and Son, as it was over the size ordered. The builders are now engaged in the construction of a new one.

It has now been definitely decided not to change the date of the Ponsonby Regatta, and it will therefore be held as usual on Easter Monday. A good programme has been arranged for the occasion.

The cricketing season has now fairly commenced, and the question of the formation of a practice ground in the Albert Park Reserve, should therefore be brought under the notice of the City Council again without delay. There can be no doubt that if such a step were taken, a strong impetus would be given to cricket in Auckland. Our young men would be enabled to spend their evenings in the enjoyment of this healthful game, and while developing their muscular powers they would be kept apart from, those vicious pursuits which. apparently are the only alternatives. Councillors Hemus and Goldie j>rofess to be anxious to secure the improvexnent of our young men both mentally and physically, and I would recommend the subject to their consideration.
