COAST ELECTRICITY. Completion In November. QUESTION OF DELAY. VALLEY POWER BOARD RUSHED, According to statements marie by the chairman of th© Thames Valley Power Board, Mr. J. Price, at its meeting at Te Aroha this week, tihe extension of electricity to the Coast as far as Tapu will not be completed until the end of November next.

The question of Coast power arose Avhen a letter from the Board’s legal advisors Avas read. Enclosed AA r as the signed guarantee for the Thames Coast line reticulation as backed by the Thames Chamber of Commerce Avhich Avas formally approved.

Mr. 11. M. Corbett asked Avhen a start would be made on the Avork, the chairman replying that it Avould be some time after April.

"When do you think the poAver Avill be definitely available, say as far as Tapu?” asked Mr. Corbett.

The engineer (Mr. N. G. McLeod): About the end of NoA’ember.

Mr. W. C. Kennedy: Can you tell us this: Why should there be a delay of 12 months in erecting this line. Is there a shortage of men or material?

The chairman: Our trouble is that we can’t cope Avith the Avork Ave already have on hand. We are doing our best, but avc can only take the Avork as it comes.

Mr. Kennedy: I realise that but Avliy should it take 12 months to run a line along the’ Thames Coast?

The chairman: Mr. Kennedy will knoAv that the Coast line Avill be over treacherous country and requires a lot of extra Avork. It is not like running a line over the flat.
