CAR SOMERSAULTS.
«. TROTTING PRESIDENT INJURED. BURSTING OF A TYRE. WIFE ESCAPES WITH SHAKING. [By Telegraph. —Press Association]. ASHBURTON, Sept. 27. The president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference, Mr. H. F. Nicoll,
suffered severe injuries when liis car capsized on the main south road six miles north of Ashburton yesterday
afternoon. The bursting of a tyro caused the car to turn completely over
several times
Mr. Nicoll was admitted to a private hospital with two broken ribs, a fractured thigh, injuries to the head and very serious shock.
Mrs. Nicoll, who was also in the car, escaped with a severe shaking. The car was extensively' damaged.
