ROAD RACING.
THAMES CYCLE CLUB. McConnell cup trial. To Komata and return, a distance of 34 miles, was the journey selected for the Thames Cycle Club’s race for the cup presented by Mrs. McConnell. Thu winner turned up in M. Cowie.
From the start the four scratch men lapped it out, and at tlic turn had only gained 3min on Cowie, who was riding from tho 7min mark. L. Cowi(also off 7min) dropped back at this stage. The winner led all the way to win by 200yds from tho scratch men, who were in sight at the Parawai station. S. Jones was fourth. Results: M. Cowie (7min) 1; A. Jamieson (scr) 2; R. Jamieson (scr) 3. Fastest time: A. Jamieson, 91min 59sec.
