UNABLE TO STAND.
DETECTIVE AND ELECTIONS. ACT FORBIDS CANDIDATURE. [By Telegraph.—Press Association]. GISBORNE, Sept. 22. It is learned that Detective C. P. Belton, who was desirous of standing as an Independent candidate for Gisborne at the general election, has discovered that he is unable to do so owing to the fact that members of the Police Force are unable to take part in politics.
