LONG SEQUENCE BROKEN
FIRST MEETING MISSED. IN PERIOD OF 15 YEARS. MAYOR OF PAEROA. [Special to "Star"] PAEROA, July 21. When he missed the last meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council through his absence in Wellington, the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Marshall, failed to take the chair for the first time during his 15 years' occupancy of the position. The meeting was merely a formal one, held to pass the statutory resolution striking the rates, and lasted less than fivo minutes. It was the first occasion on which the deputy-Mayor, Mr. E. Edwards, had presided over a meeting of the council, although he has also occupied his post for 15 years.
