COAST LIGHTING.
"SHOULD BE NO DELAY."
LETTER FROM MR. SEMPLE.
TO MR. J. THORN, M.P.
Mr. J. Thorn, M.P. for Thames, has received the following letter from tho Hon. R. Semple, in reply to a query regarding the guarantee required to reticulate tho area to Tapu, on tho Thames Coast: —
"With reference to your letter of 25/2/38, regarding the extension of tho Thames Valley Power Board's lines to Tapu district and tho guaranteed revenue required in connection therewith, I have to state that the sum of £BO6 quoted is the gross amount ba«ed on 15 per cent, of the capital cost. If,
however, consumers pay their accounts on the due date, the discount usually
given to consumers throughout tho other portions of the Board's area .will apply and the nel! result is that tho guarantee required will amount to £ 645.
"This latter amount is practically in accord with the sum mentioned in yon? letter, and if your constituents in Tapu are fully appraised of the fact that the guarantee asked for is subject to a discount, provided payment of accounts is not allowe'cl to get into arrears, I think there should be no further delay in signing up tho Power Board."
