TURUA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
OFFICERS ELECTED. The Turua Women's Institute held its monthly meeting in the Turua Buildings yesterday afternoon. Mrs. C, Scott was elected president and Mrs, P. Murphy secretary and treasurer. It was proposed that Mrs. IlesselJ be sent to the conference in Welling ton if she so desired. It has been decided that a bring-and-buy and musical afternoon is to be held in the Turua Buildings on the -Bth instant. A telegram competition, which was con ducted by Mrs. Grey and Mrs. Carter, was Avon by Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Sutton, Mesdames Loader . and Hamilton were hostesses for the afternoon. The meeting closed with the* singing of the National Anthem.
NGATEA ACTIVITIES.
MBTHOMST CONCERT. A concert organised by the Methodist Church at Ngatea on Thursday was a great success. The hall was crowded with people from all parts of tho Plains. Artists were present from Thames and Paeroa. The programme was as follows: —Elocution, Miss F. Waite; solos, Mr. W. Forrest; folk dancing, Waitakaruru school children; recitations, Master Ray MacKenzie: solos, Master Ewan McEwan; pianoforte solos, Miss Elsie Bray; solos. Mr. W. Warbrick; recitations, Rev. Peter Doncen;, folk dancing, Misses Hinton; solos, Mr. Emery; recitations, Miss Olga Scott; tap-dancing, Mr. H. Dalton; Kerepeehi ballot, Kerrpcphi ladies; solos, Miss Stevenson.
